Dr Rohan Malik

Dr Rohan Malik is a paediatric gastroenterologist with over a decade of experience as a consultant, including experience in setting up and developing a major tertiary paediatric gastroenterology unit.

He currently works as a senior consultant and is part of the gastroenterology, hepatology and liver transplant team at Queensland Children’s Hospital. He has also trained and worked at The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.

Before moving to Australia, Dr Malik was a Professor at the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, where he led the paediatric gastroenterology service.

Dr Malik looks after children with gastrointestinal, digestive and liver conditions, ranging from common childhood situations to complex inflammatory bowel disease and refractory constipation. He has spent over a decade working in tertiary care environments with complex cases, and continues to see common childhood digestive concerns as well.

He has a warm, family-centred approach and places strong emphasis on careful listening, clear communication, and developing practical management plans tailored to each child and family.

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Malik has an active academic and research profile, including original research in childhood gastrointestinal conditions. He has authored more than 70 peer-reviewed publications, book chapters and guidelines, spoken at national and international forums, and received competitive research grants, including a Wellcome Trust TEAMS grant for research in paediatric inflammatory bowel disease.
